VEERIO PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: 5-24-2026
At Veerio, we believe discovering local events should be easy — and that your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information Veerio LLC ("Veerio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies when you use the Veerio mobile application, website, embeddable widgets, and related services (collectively, the "Services," referred to as the "Platform" in the Veerio Terms of Use) and is incorporated into the Veerio Terms of Use.
The Services are currently directed to users in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, including the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Services, you acknowledge the data practices described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to help you discover events, connect with your community, and improve the Services. We collect it in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the Services, and information from third-party sources. Here is what each category includes.
1.1 Information You Provide
Account information: name, email address, password, profile photo, and other details you provide when creating an account or claiming a venue listing.
Preferences and interests: event categories, neighborhoods, or topics you select to personalize your experience.
Host information: venue or organization name, business address, phone number, hours, and Event details you submit as a Host.
Event interactions: Events you save, share, rate, comment on, or otherwise interact with within the Services.
Communications: messages you send to Veerio, including support requests, feedback, and reports.
Payment information: if and when Veerio introduces paid features, we or our payment processors will collect billing details. We will update this Policy before doing so.
Survey or research responses, if you choose to participate.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Location data: precise and approximate location, as further described in Section 2.
Device information: device type, operating system, application version, language, time zone, and unique device identifiers.
Usage data: pages and screens viewed, features used, search queries, items tapped, time spent, and similar interaction data.
Log and technical data: IP address, browser type, referral URLs, crash reports, and diagnostic data.
Cookies and similar technologies: described in Section 8.
1.3 Information from Third-Party Sources
To assemble a comprehensive picture of local events, we collect and process publicly available event information from third-party sources, including websites, public social media posts, public calendars, community newsletters, posters, and flyers. This information may include venue names, event descriptions, dates, times, locations, organizer names, and images. We may also receive information about you from third parties that integrate with the Services, such as authentication providers or analytics providers.
We may also analyze the information we collect and make inferences about your interests, preferences, and behavior — for example, to infer which types of events you are likely to enjoy based on your location, browsing activity, and prior interactions.
Throughout this Privacy Policy, "personal information" refers to information that identifies or is reasonably linkable to you as an individual (such as your name, email address, precise location, and usage activity). It does not include aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data, or public Event information such as venue names, event descriptions, and dates that we collect from public sources.
2. Location Data
Because Veerio is a location-based event discovery service, location data is central to how the Services work. We treat location data with particular care.
2.1 Types of Location Data
Precise location: latitude and longitude provided by your device, used to show Events near you and to provide directions.
Approximate location: derived from IP address or coarse geolocation, used when precise location is unavailable or not granted.
Venue location: addresses and coordinates of Events, which is general public information about a place rather than information about you.
2.2 When We Collect Location
We collect precise location only when the Services are in the foreground (while you are actively using the app) and only with your permission, granted through your device's operating system permission prompt. We do not collect background location data. You may revoke location permissions at any time through your device's operating system settings. The Services may also offer in-app location controls; where available, those are described within the app. Some features (such as nearby Event discovery) will not work without location access.
2.3 How We Use Location
To show Events near your current location;
To rank and personalize Event recommendations;
To provide directions and travel time estimates;
To produce aggregated, de-identified analytics about community activity (described in Section 5).
If you do not grant location permission or later revoke it, nearby Event discovery and location-based recommendations will not function. You can still use the Services to browse Events by searching manually.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Provide and improve the Services: we use account information, location data, and usage data to operate the Services, personalize Event discovery, deliver recommendations, and develop new features.
Authentication and security: we use account credentials, device identifiers, and log data to verify your identity, maintain account security, and detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.
Communications: we use your email address and notification preferences to send service-related messages, updates about Events you follow, and — where you have opted in — promotional communications. You can manage these preferences at any time (see Section 6).
Research and analytics: we use usage data, location data, and aggregated signals to understand how the Services are used, measure performance, and conduct internal research. Where possible, we use de-identified or aggregated data for these purposes.
Advertising and content personalization: we may use usage data and interest signals to surface relevant content within the Services. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers, but we may work with analytics partners who use cookies and similar technologies (see Section 8).
Legal and safety: we use information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, protect the safety of users and others, and enforce our agreements.
4. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing
Veerio uses artificial intelligence ("AI") and automated systems as part of the Services. We provide the following disclosures so you can make informed choices about your use of the Services.
4.1 Where AI Is Used
Ingestion and extraction: AI systems (including optical character recognition and large language models) read public sources, posters, and flyers to extract Event details such as title, date, time, location, and description.
Personalization: AI systems rank, recommend, and surface Events based on signals such as your location, prior interactions, and stated preferences.
Moderation: AI systems flag potentially problematic Content for human review.
Analytics: AI and statistical systems produce aggregated insights about community activity for internal use and for the data products described in Section 5.
4.2 Human Review
Decisions that materially affect you, such as removal of Content, account suspension, or rejection of a venue claim, are subject to human review. You may contact us to request human review of any automated decision that affects you.
4.3 Accuracy
AI-generated outputs may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should not rely on AI-generated Event information as your sole source of truth for attending an Event. We make commercially reasonable efforts to keep ingested information accurate, and Hosts may correct or claim listings about their venues at any time.
4.4 No Training on Identifiable Personal Information
Veerio does not use personally identifiable information about you to train third-party generative AI models, and will not knowingly submit your personal information to third-party AI or machine learning services in a manner that violates applicable law. We may use aggregated and de-identified data, as well as public Event information, to train and refine models we operate or license.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary consideration. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent. We may share information in the circumstances described below.
5.1 Public Event Information
Events, including venue name, address, date, time, description, and any images or details a Host provides, are public by nature. This information appears in search results, embeddable widgets used by partner sites, and may be indexed by search engines.
5.2 Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, customer support, communications, and content moderation. These providers are contractually limited to using information only as needed to provide their services to us.
5.3 Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may share or license aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data with third parties for analytics, research, and commercial purposes. This data is processed so that it does not identify any individual user and is not reasonably linkable to any individual, even in combination with other available information. Veerio applies reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to prevent re-identification; however, Veerio does not guarantee that de-identified data cannot be re-identified in all circumstances. Examples include statistics about how many people viewed Events in a given category or region, trends in event attendance over time, or patterns of community activity. We may receive compensation in exchange for this data. Once data is de-identified or aggregated such that it no longer identifies or is reasonably linkable to you, it is no longer considered personal information and is not subject to this Privacy Policy.
5.4 Business Transfers
If Veerio is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
5.5 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (b) protect the safety, rights, or property of Veerio, our users, or others; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) enforce our Terms of Use.
5.6 With Your Direction
We may share information with third parties when you direct us to do so, for example when you share an Event to social media or messaging apps.
5.7 Analytics and Advertising Partners
We may work with third-party analytics and advertising partners who use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and similar technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other websites and online services. These partners may use that information to provide analytics services, measure the effectiveness of advertisements, or serve advertising to you on other platforms. We do not sell your personal information to these partners, but this sharing may constitute "sharing" for targeted advertising purposes under certain state privacy laws. You may opt out of this sharing as described in Section 6.5 and through the cookie controls described in Section 8. When you use social sharing features, the third-party service's own privacy policy governs its use of any information you share through it; we do not control how that third party uses the shared data.
When you RSVP to or register for an Event, your name and related RSVP details may be shared with the Host who organized that Event. If a Host indicates that an Event has sponsors or co-organizers, your information may also be shared with those parties as disclosed at the time of registration. You should review the Host's privacy practices before registering for any Event.
6. Your Choices and Rights
6.1 Account and Profile
You may access and update your account information and preferences at any time through the Services. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at the address in Section 11. Certain information — such as your name and any public Event listings you have posted as a Host — may remain visible to others for a period after deletion.
6.2 Location Permissions
You may grant or revoke location permissions through your device's operating system settings. If you revoke precise location access, nearby Event discovery and location-based recommendations will not function, but you can still browse Events by searching manually.
6.3 Notifications and Communications
You may control push notifications through your device settings. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. You may not opt out of transactional service messages (such as password reset and account security notices).
6.4 Interest and Personalization Preferences
You may update your event category preferences and interest settings within the Services at any time. Updating these settings affects the recommendations you see going forward but does not delete past usage data.
6.5 State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others) have additional rights under state privacy laws, which may include the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined under state law; opt out of targeted advertising; request portability of your personal information in a structured, machine-readable format; withdraw consent to processing where our processing is based on your consent (withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing); and appeal a denial of any of these requests.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 11. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. We may deactivate accounts that have had no login activity for three or more years; we will provide reasonable notice before doing so.
Different types of information are retained for different periods: account information is retained for the life of your account; usage and location data is retained for a reasonable period to support analytics, security, and recommendations; and communications with our support team are retained as needed to resolve the underlying issue and for a reasonable period thereafter.
Where we retain information after account deletion or deactivation, we do so only for the following purposes: to honor opt-out or suppression requests; to support fraud prevention, abuse detection, and security; to comply with applicable legal, tax, or accounting requirements; and to resolve open disputes or enforce our agreements.
When we no longer need personal information, we delete or de-identify it.
Aggregated and de-identified information may be retained indefinitely.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Services use cookies, mobile device identifiers, and similar technologies to remember preferences, authenticate users, measure usage, and improve the Services. You may control cookies through your browser settings and mobile device settings, though some Services features may not work without them. Our Cookie Policy is available here.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for purposes of targeted advertising. You can exercise this right through the cookie controls described in our Cookie Policy or by contacting us as described in Section 11.
Do-Not-Track: Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites. Because there is no industry-wide standard for how sites should respond to DNT signals, the Services do not currently respond to them. We will update this Policy if our practices change.
9. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident that may affect your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for any activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
10. Children
The Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it. If you believe we may have information from a person under 18, please contact us at the address in Section 11.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice through the Services or by email before the changes take effect, unless a shorter period is required by law. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Policy, you should stop using the Services and may request deletion of your account as described in Section 6.1.
